Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra foldable displays come with anti-reflection coating

Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Fold 8 Ultra foldable displays come with anti-reflection coating

Samsung unveiled three new foldable phones during its Galaxy Unpacked press event today. The Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra feature improved foldable screens that make them easier to read outdoors than the Galaxy Z Fold 7.

Both phones have newer Dynamic AMOLED 2X foldable panels that can reach peak brightness of up to 3,000 nits. This makes them 15% brighter than the Galaxy Z Fold 7 and the brighest displays ever on any Galaxy smartphone.

The new screens also feature an anti-reflective coating that reduces glare and reflections, making on-screen content easier to see outdoors and around bright light sources, such as lamps and windows. The cover display, unfortunately, does not get this coating.

Samsung has also equipped both phones with its new Flex Titanium hinge mechanism. It uses a combination of a titanium-alloy film and a titanium plate to make the inner screen appear flatter and reduce crease visibility. The Ultra Thin Glass (UTG) panel also makes the screen feel more like that of a conventional phone.

The combination of a brighter screen, an anti-reflective coating, and a less visible crease makes the inner displays on the Galaxy Z Fold 8 and Galaxy Z Fold 8 Ultra easier to read outdoors.
